Embodying the Spirit of Tanjiro Kamado

From Kind-Hearted Brother to Fierce Demon Slayer: Tips, Techniques, and Outfit Essentials for Tanjiro

Tanjiro Kamado, the main protagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a demon slayer. Tanjiro was a coal burner when his family was killed by Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King while his sister, Nezuko, was turned into a demon. Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization dedicated to protecting humanity from demons, to bring back his sister.

Tanjiro was sent to Mt. Sagiri by Giyu Tomioka so that he could train to become a demon slayer. After years of rigorous training and learning swordsmanship with ghosts, he becomes a part of the Demon Slayer Corps. Tanjiro vows to save Nezuko, setting the theme: “Muzan Kibutsuji! No matter where you go, I promise you won’t escape me! You can run as far as you want! I’ll follow you to the ends of Hell, and my blade will be the last thing you see! I’ll never forgive you for what you’ve done!”

Tanjiro figures out a way to save Nezuko’s humanity with the help of a few of his demon friends. He starts collecting blood samples of the demons he defeats, and with the help of this medicine Nezuko is human again. During the battle, Tanjiro loses an arm, an eye and was severely wounded. Muzan turns Tanjiro into a demon before he dies, and Tanjiro as a demon turns out to be a greater threat than Muzan, himself. With considerable efforts being made by his friends, Tanjiro is able to turn back to human form, with his left arm that he lost during the battle, being wrinkled and skeletal and his right eye’s iris, a dull pink-gray color. Tanjiro returns home with his friends and Nezuko.

Tanjiro, throughout the series, is shown to have remarkable abilities that he develops through years of training.
