Embodying the Love Hashira: Transforming into Mitsuri Kanroji

From Compassionate Heart to Fearless Fighter: Tips, Techniques, and Outfit Essentials for Mitsuri

This love hashira was born in Azusa Ward of Tokyo during the Meiji period. When she was an infant, she picked a 33 lb stone which astounded her own brawny mother. Mitsuri is extremely eager to tie the knot, so much so that she dyed her thick braids to black in order to look ‘normal’. Primarily, she joins the Demon Slayer corps to find herself a spouse who would be stronger than her, which is a herculean task given her own enormous physical strength.

Nonetheless, she is terribly remorseful of joining the corps. In order to rid herself of this guilt, she begins eating less and less in an attempt to fit in. Moreover, her infantile personality drives her to over-react in certain situations. Kanroji’s excitable personality compels to grab her friends for a big group hug after the battle against Gyokko and Hantengu.

This dango lover possesses superhuman strength due to her abnormal muscles. In a battle against Muzan, she tears off his arms with bare hands. Not only does she maintain lightning-fast reflexes, but also her Love Breathing technique incorporates elements of her superhuman flexibility while her whip-like sword enables her to unleash attacks that cover a wide range of motion and long ranges.

Portraying Mitsuri Kanroji: Balancing Tenderness and Strength

  • Ditzy demon: Kanroji comes off as clumsy since she gets lost in her own thoughts, tripping over herself. However, this adds to her bewitching charm and materializes her high adorable quotient.
  • Lovey-dovey: Mitsuri is given the nickname ‘Love Hashira’ since she’s always affectionate to one and all.
  • Upbeat and cheerful: She holds a positive outlook towards life and takes all the challenges head on.

Perfecting Mitsuri’s Look: Key Pieces and Styling Tips

  • Haori: She dons a pink outer kimono which has a floral pattern, akin to traditional Japanese clothing.
  • Kimono: Mitsuki wears a kimono whose color creates a harmonious combination with her haori.
  • Hairstyle: Mitsuri’s long, pink hair is styled in two loose braids that frame her face, adding to her youthful and feminine appearance.
  • Weapon: As a demon slayer, Mitsuri wields a unique weapon called a Nichirin Blade, which is a katana with a pink blade that is in consonance with her overall aesthetic.

Her Most Notable Lines

“Is it okay for a girl to be this strong? I still worry that someone may ask that, as though I’m not human. In my fear, I was suppressing my strength. But not anymore. Leave this to me. I will protect everyone.”

“Ah!! You figured it out? That’s right! I soooo love making honey and putting it on my bread!”

– Mitsuri Kanroji, Yimetsu No Kaiba
