Becoming the Knight of the Sea: Transforming into Jinbe

From Fish-Man Karate Master to Honorable Warrior: Tips, Techniques, and Outfit Essentials for Jinbe

Jinbe is a whale shark fish-man who strives to fulfill his former captain’s dying wish, coexistence and equality between humans and fish-men. Also known as ‘Knight of the Sea’, Jinbe is a Helmsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, steering ships and many types of boats. Ever since joining the Straw Hats, he has displayed amazing talents as a helmsman, being able to maneuver the Thousand Sunny into a small “Green Room” within the massive sentient wave Big Mom generated, allowing the ship to surf away from the crushing waves unharmed, truly bringing out the Thousand Sunny’s full potential.

Jinbe is a gigantic blue whale shark fisherman and the Straw Hat Pirates’ current tallest member. He has a stocky body comparable to that of a sumo wrestler and a face that is frequently connected with numerous Japanese demons such as the oni. He also has two tusk-like conical bottom fangs similar to Oni’s; the remainder of his top and lower rows of teeth are nearly identical, albeit considerably smaller. He also has a pronounced underbite, which allows room for his massive fangs.

Jinbe is also a master of Fish-man karate and according to him, the secret lies in the mastery of the water in the user’s direct vicinity. Possessing immense physical strength, speed and durability, Jinbe is also an excellent swimmer and can manipulate water to his benefit.
