Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey: Chaos, Color, and Character

In her quest to enjoy her newfound freedom because of her break up with Joker, Harley winds up in trouble and upends the entire Gotham city with her antics. She bands together with Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save little Cassandra from having her face skinned by Roman Sionis aka Black Mask. A femininity-fuelled film; Birds of Prey is clearly successful in painting Quinn as eccentric, demented and maniacal. 

Quinn blasts the Ace Chemicals (to officially break up with Joker), kills multiple goons (to save her own life), injures several police officials (to get hold of Cassandra), kicks Montoya out of the window of a tall building (because of her egg sandwich fiasco), and throws Sionis off the bridge with a hand grenade (to rescue Gotham and Cassandra). Too many parentheses because Harley’s actions are justified (she just broke up with Mr. J but we’re #TeamHarley)

Deep Inside Harley’s Psyche

• Volatile and unpredictable: Quinn has an extremely unstable as well as fluctuating personality. She does whatever she feels like, whenever she feels like.
• Has a strong sense of self: After her unhealthy relationship with Joker, Harley finds her own crew, her voice and her identity. This gives her some semblance of autonomy.
• Vengeful: She loves whatever she holds dear and is willing to protect it, come hell or high water. However, if someone tries to take her cherished things away from her, Quinn is going after them.

DIY Her Getup (Just Like She Did)

Create the costume at your home and look just as insane as her. Just follow these steps and you’re good to go:

• You must have a pink shirt. Cut its sleeves and the torso region so that it looks more like a cropped top
• Get your denim shorts. Paint black vertical lines on them in equal distance. Also, put a few orange stars as shown in the picture
• For the orange suspenders, get a rectangular orange cloth, cut it into 2 thin strips like in the picture and put a hook on each end of the strip
• Pompoms will make you look flamboyant. So, cut thin strips of the leftover gift paper you have and glue all of them together until it creates a voluminous ruffled look.
